![]() ![]() The sheer kinetic power behind a railgun should either be able to penetrate shields or would cause massive damage to them if they took all that energy directly. ![]() Would be nice if they were really good against shields or something. Railgun, Fires a hypersonic projectile at incredible speeds, damaging. I get the impression that railguns are meant for softer targets like drones, but you hardly need such an expensive dedicated weapon for such a job. Each shot directs all its damage at a single target. Maybe the damage from rail guns is more effective against shields? I haven't tested that yet. It seems like the ideal SV should be a combination of chain guns for drones/ground troops, missiles/plasma for turrets/blocks/heavy drones, and potentially homing missiles for bomber drones or strafing runs against really high end POIs. I just can't find a way to get the rail guns to do anywhere near the damage that they say they should, at least against bases/turrets. When going through airport security, these Greys are required to remove their suits, helmets, and boots and pass them through the x-ray scanner.Originally posted by shdwdrvr83:I'm having this same debate - Firing 4 rail guns at a time against turrets seems to be significantly less effective than firing 2 plasma cannons, and while the plasma ammo requires rarer materials, it requires a lot less of it for the amount produced. Huge, energy-resistant trashcans.Īrmored Boss (Electro) - This Grey is highly-resistant to damage from Electro Towers like the Stun Gun, but weak to Fire Towers like the Missile. The enormous helmets worn by these aliens double as trashcans on the alien homeworld during peacetime. I can almost hit a planet with a railgun. They find the heat comforting, but occasionally the melting of all their personal possessions causes serious morale issues.Īrmored Boss (Energy) - This Grey is highly-resistant to damage from Energy Towers like the Railgun, but weak to Fire Towers like the Mortar. PA's have an absolute damage component for which there is no resistance. The FIre-Armored Bosses are given special housing aboard the UFOs, very close to the engine systems. Lastly build the Stun Gun and continue to upgrade all towers. Upgrade towers and build surrounding Boosts. Bosses also have significantly more health.Īrmored Boss (Fire) - This Grey is highly-resistant to damage from Fire Towers like the Mortar, but weak to Energy Towers like the Plasma. Theoretical and experimental investigations of acceleration of a plasma armature in railguns filled with inert gases (argon, xenon) carried out at Ioffe Institute are described. Edit Strategies Towers used: 1 Flamer, 1 Missile, 1 Railgun, 1 Stun Gun, 3 Boost Time: 12:48.4 Build notes: Start with Flamer, then Railgun and Missile. (comparing mk3 railguns with mk2 coilguns) I wasnt sure it would hold on practice thou, mainly because coilguns projectiles are faster. MARAUDER: Magnetically Accelerated Ring to Achieve Ultra-High Directed Energy and Radiation, TL: DR, an American project from the 1990's where they build a coaxial plasma railgun, which uses plasma as a KINETIC weapon, accelerating a Torus (a ring) of 0.5-2 milligrams of plasma to relativistic speeds, 1-3 the speed of light. ![]() According to the wiki the Railgun has the most ammo (important for ITZ builds) while it has roughly the same Damage as the Pulse Lance and only 1 damage less then the Particle. While looking at the wiki I was surprised to see that the Railgun seems to be the best primary weapon for MEC's. Tip 2: Get used to alternating between building physical and energy weapons to create a balanced defence. Im about to roll out some more MEC's in my LW 14 campain. There are currently three types of Armored Bosses resistant to Fire, Energy and Electro towers. While coilgun cannons output more kg/s than railguns, railgun batteries output more kg/s than coilguns. Position it at the end of long straights and watch the carnage.
